Golden Birthday Reflection: Turning 27

Golden Birthday Reflection: Turning 27

When I was younger, I took celebrations quite seriously. It was probably based off how how it made me feel - which was amazing. Anything I could celebrate, I would do so with such gusto, especially for other people. I would even wrap up things that my brothers already owned to give them to open as pre-Christmas gifts. I just seriously loved giving gifts and making people feel so special.

Carissa + Brent's Bridal Shower

Carissa + Brent's Bridal Shower

As you all probably know, my little brother is getting married this summer! I was even asked to take the proposal pictures and made it all a surprise! The hardest part about this upcoming wedding is the fact that it’s in a completely other state: Colorado. Don’t get me wrong, it’s going to be the most beautiful wedding ever - the location, her wedding style and colors, and her dress will all be radiant. But since both Brent and Carissa live in Colorado, it’s hard to plan things with them or be a part of the process.

Throughout the years of growing in my photography, I have found some amazing fellow photographers along the way that inspire me. These fantastic women unknowingly empower me to pursue this photography dream, show me how to be an entrepreneur, and continually inspire me to get better. This is my little thank you note to them and countless others out there who have made an impact on my life.

Why I Moved Back to Illinois

Why I Moved Back to Illinois

About 5 years ago, while I was doing homework for a class at Millikin University, I got a call that I was officially offered a full-time job as a graphic designer starting a few weeks after I graduated in Louisville, KY. I had worked so hard during this semester to really focus on preparing myself to get a job that was in my field and that would get me out of Illinois. I applied to a minimum of 2 jobs a day (I’m not even exaggerating) starting January 1st of my last semester in college. Ideally I wanted to get out West towards Colorado, but I was open to anywhere BUT Illinois.

I'm on The Knot!

I'm on The Knot!

I’ve been a photographer for about 6 years now, and I’ve loved every moment of it. I knew that I wanted to make photography a larger part of my life, but up until now I convinced myself I didn’t have what it took to be full-time. Last year, God whispered to me that it was finally my time to do this; that it was time to make photography a main part of my life.

Project 52 - Week 52 | Photographer's Choice

While this year (as all years) went by quickly, I feel like a lot has happened. I wanted to take time in this last Project 52 prompt post to reflect on all the great things that have happened, all the changes made, and the things I’m most excited about. I do this as it was -3 degrees when I woke up this morning.

What You Need to Know about Jury Duty

What You Need to Know about Jury Duty

I was recently “summoned” to participate in everyone’s favorite civic responsibility: jury duty.

When I was first notified, I felt a little apprehensive. I didn’t have many details about the process and was unsure about what to expect. So, if you’re still waiting for your fateful day to come, I hope reading about my experience will help you to feel a little more prepared.

    2017 Goals

    2017 Goals

2016 was one of those years of ups and downs, in 5th gear then to reverse. Most years are. But something profound happened in 2016 that sparked a new flame inside of me. I accomplished one of my longest and largest dreams – I traveled to London. For some, that may seem petty, but I dreamt of going overseas to this dreamlike land since I can remember. It actually may have started with Lindsay Lohan in Parent Trap… though I digress.
