My life has been a whirlwind these past few days and looking into the future. I just finished my time serving on jury duty, I’m about to leave for vacation, and I’m packing my apartment up to move to Illinois for a while. However, I was able to grab my camera and snap a few Close Up photos for this week’s Project 52 prompt.
I’ve always liked taking photos close up – I really like the depth of field that you can capture. But most of the time when you look at something close up, it tends to give a new light of perspective on that object.
I really wanted to get out of the apartment and roam around town to find something spectacular, but I stuck with my excuse of being so busy and ended up snapping this shot of my apartment building. See, from a distance it’s just another brick building. However, I have never seen brick like these before. It almost seems like they were created in a mold that someone happened to find. Those lines on the side of the bricks? I’ve never seen them on brick before. It makes me wonder if the engraved lines are all the way around the brick to help the cement attach.
Either way, this is sort of my last photo that I’ll be taking of my apartment in Louisville. While I’m extremely happy I am moving, the chapter of my life that I lived in there was fantastic. It helped me minimalize my life and really make the most out of a crummy situation.
